Jaxon Taylor Ellingson

For some reason seeing my brother with his own little man was so strange to me after all he is my brother just my silly silly brother..not a dad! But in reality he will be a wonderful father, children seem to love him and he is great with them.
My wonderful sister-in-law, Lahia. She is going to be a wonderful mommy!
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY HIA!!

Kohen just wanted to touch him and give kisses but I was mean and held
down his arms, I figured Jaxon might like his eyeballs right where they are.
Kohen helping aunt Lahia with her bed, she looked like she wasn't comfortable..
He's just here to help in any way he can!

Me and Jaxon are already best friends! He told me I'm
his favorite aunt of all his daddies sisters!
Poor little guy! He is getting ready for his bath, but he wanted mommy!

I LOVE love love this picture he looks so much like my Jason to me its amazing!

My mom was able to come for two days to be here for delivery and to see her new grandson, she of course made time for Kohen to...Thank you for sharing grandma time Jaxon!!

Uncle Jeremiah: I love how sweet and gentle Jer is with
babies he is such a wonderful dad and uncle!

It amazes me to think that this sweet baby was just with our father in heaven, how much does he remember? How quickly does the veil take effect?

She loves being a grandma!! And do you blame her she has such cute grand babies!

My nephew Jaxon was born Saturday afternoon! He took his time coming and after a long labor and almost 2 hrs of pushing he is HERE! To me Jaxon looks like his daddy, with the exception of his mommies lips. He is so incredibly sweet and kissable! I love babies and even more than that I love being an aunt and a mommy!! I wanted to post a FEW pictures but they were all so precious I decided to post a lot. :)

Recipe "club" anyone??

I am not a Suzy homemaker by any means, I was not blessed with the talent of keeping my home orderly 100% of the time, nor was i blessed with the patience for sewing...but I was blessed with a passion that was passed down from my Grandma Bronec...Cooking!! I love to cook, I love to try new things, I love to share recipe's and I love to eat!!
I made this Taco soup for dinner tonight and instantly thought of a few people I know who would really like this recipe...then a light bulb went off in my head!! About twice a week my grandma and I call each other with new recipe's we tried and tested and either loved or didn't love...so why not share recipe's with a big group of people ... I guess what I'm suggesting is a recipe swapping "club".
Sort of like a book club only we share recipe's instead of books, what do you all think? And for those of you who cannot attend cause you live in other states DON'T WORRY....I will be doing a recipe "club" BLOG...O my goodness I'm getting so excited!! Let me know if you would like to participate and I will try to get my idea more organized :)
PLEASE VISIT THIS BLOG IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING: www.somethingoodlookiniscookin.blogspot.com

Sweet tooth

This past week I have had an unusual craving for salt water taffy and I also have been wanting a warm homemade apple pie (my mom makes the BEST). Well Friday night Jer was having some "guy" time, so I had a girl friend over and we made salt water taffy and it turned out REALLY good! Then on Sunday I decided to make an Apple pie, because we were having guests over for dinner. The pie was good but not as good as my mom's (it looked beautiful though so I had to take a picture!)
So here is the Salt Water Taffy recipe I found that worked great:
2 cups Sugar
2 tbs Cornstarch
1 cup (light) Corn Syrup
2 tsp Glycerin
3/4 cup Water
1 tsp Salt
2 tbs Butter
1/2 tsp flavoring (I used 1 tsp on the fruity flavors like raspberry and orange)
3 drops coloring
Extra butter or oil
Grease down sides of large pot, Mix Sugar, Corn starch, syrup, glycerin, water and salt. Cook on Med-High until boiling, turn down to Medium and continue to cook until "hard crack" 270 degrees (takes about 40 min) While boiling prepare a large cookie sheet or a marble slab by greasing it down. After mixture is at hard crack stage remove from heat and add butter, flavor and coloring, mix gently so you do not cause bubbles. Pour mixture onto prepared greased area and let cool for 15-20 min. Grease your hands with OIL (if you use butter the flavor will taste like butter) Once you are able to pick up the mixture start to pull and twist until it turns a creamy color (about 10 minutes) than split into four sections roll and snip into small pieces, wrap in wax paper and ENJOY!
Makes: 100 pieces
I hope you have as much luck as I did..If you do this I would recomend having one or two helpers to pull. Also I had a heck of time finding Glycerin but I finally did (at RiteAid) and all they had was a HUGE bottle so please borrow mine if you are planning on making it cause I cant think of any other recipe's I will be using it for.

A new mothers worries

Its true that when children come into the world and into your life, they are not attached to a "how to" guide. Our knowledge comes from things we saw our mother do and things we ASSUME work. On Sunday Kohen got a fever I kept an eye on it and just snuggled and babied him that day...Monday morning when I checked his temp, he was at 101.3. I gave him Tylenol and called the doctor to see if I should bring him in.
Well by his doctors appointment at 5:00 his temp was at 103 the doctor checked his ears and said "wow, he has a very infected ear on the left and a minor infection on the right". For some reason I have developed a bit of an acid tongue when it comes to things pertaining my child...Two weeks ago I brought Kohen in because he was pulling on his ears, was a bit warm, and a little more fussy than usual!! So you can guess that I told the doctor how angry I was that last time I came in they told me his ears were a BIT pink but nothing to worry about, I was very frustrated and Jeremiah and I have decided to change doctors (for more than one reason).
So they prescribed us some Amoxecillin (sp?)...Tuesday at around noon Kohen started crying for NO reason and would not stop and I could not settle him down for 2 hours. I knew after awhile that his ear drum must have erupted and so I laid him on his left side and sure enough a river of yuckiness came out. I got him to the doctors right away and waited in the waiting room with a screaming baby for 20 minutes (I could have torn someones head off that day)!! We finally got into the "smaller waiting room" (Seinfeld reference) and waited for the doc and nurse to come in with some ear drops and some extra strength Tylenol...45 minutes in the office and vola' that's all they can do for an erupted ear drum.
Skipping ahead to yesterday...We have been keeping him on the Amoxecillin every 8 hrs as prescribed, but we started noticing he screams when he has a dirty diaper and yesterday morning he had the MOTHER of all diaper rashes. Well come to find out he is allergic to Amoxicillin. Which I was told by the nurse is very common in young children and there body usually grows out of it. We have special cream for his bottom, he is supposed to be on just water and rice cereal to flush the meds out. I have made special cloth diapers (I was pretty impressed with my invention actually!!) and just keep him as comfortable as possible until it is out of his system.
Ok so why did I give you every detail of my week...one to vent because I needed to...but mostly I just need to know that I'm doing ok as a mother I feel awful that he is SO sick and its just one thing after another. I hate that he doesn't feel well and even more so that I cant fix it right away. Jer gave me a blessing last night because I'm just very tired and very emotionally "raw" after this week. Thank goodness for the gospel in our lives and for the priesthood, with out which I would be lost aimlessly in this world. What do we do as mothers to stay "level" and sane when our babies are in pain? And why cant there be a book that tells me what to do in every circumstance!
